In the summer of 2001, singer/bass player Steve Cauchi, lead guitarist Alain Giardina, and drummer Matt Ward began writing original material under the Gravel moniker. After a few years of playing the local club scene in and around the New York City area, the band prepared to head into the studio.

Their first demo, a powerful 4-song ep, was recorded at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York. The demo received strong reviews and
received radio airplay on 102.3 WBAB and 98.5 the bone.

Gravel has played such New York City venues as CBGB’s, Don Hills, Arlene’s Grocery, Acme Underground, Le Bar Bat, The Continental, etc. along with such Long Island, New York, venues as The Village Pub, The Downtown, The Kings Club, etc.

Gravel believes that their listeners will be moved through a journey of mixed emotions by their lyrical and musical content.
